The best way install Windows XP is to do a clean install. It is not difficult to perform a clean installation.
First things First
Back up your important data.
Make sure you have a computer drivers.
Check your computer specifications.
Check the OS recquirements.
You need Windows XP Installer.I choose XP professional in this tutorial, So lets begin.
All versions of Windows XP CD are bootable. In order to boot from CD/DVD-ROM you need to set the boot sequence. look for the boot sequence under your BIOS setup and make sure that the First boot device is set to CD/DVD-ROM. Then you can perform the following steps to install Windows XP
FOLLOW THE STEP BELOW:
Step 1 - FIRST BOOT
- You need to turn your computer on and insert the Windows XP install CD.
- The computer should come up with a message saying "Press any key to boot from CD..."
- If not as i said above you need to set the boot sequence manually. Look for the boot sequence under your BIOS setup and make sure that the First boot device is set to CD/DVD-ROM.
- Press any key when you see "Press any key to boot from CD..."and the blue Windows XP installer screen should start and load all the basic components that you will need.
- If you just don't press any keys from now until it is loaded you will be fine. You don't need to press F6 or F2 unless you want the particular items that they are asking about.
Step 2 - SETUP
- Once the setup is finished you should see like the screen below.
- And then Press Enter at this screen to continue setup.
- At the next screen press F8 to accept the licence agreement if you agree with the terms stated. The screen displayed below will appear. (If you get a screen mentioning that you already have a copy of Windows installed, then just press Escape Don't choose Repair).
Step 3 - PARTITIONING
1)
- Next is the partitioning setup. This is probably the most complex of the screens in the setup wizard. if it's done correctly it get's much easier.
- The only problem with this screen, is that everyone's is different and not all configurations work in all situations so please understand all my instruction very well.
- Here we will create the partition where Windows will be installed. If you have a brand new unformatted drive you will get a screen similar to Above picture.
- Or if you see list of hard drives partition ex: C: partition/E: partition, press D to delete it, So only your Unpartitioned space exist.
2)
- At this point you need to either set up 2 configurations. A partition is like having two separate hard drives. It splits one hard drive into parts you specify.
This time i'll choose 40/60 instead of 50/50
- Create a 40/60 setup where you make a partition 40% of the entire disk's size that you install Windows and programs onto and then put all your files onto the 60% second partition
- Okay now you need to point to unpartitioned space and press C to create new partitiononed which you will install Windows XP (preffered C:).
- Windows will show the total size of the hard drive and ask you how much you want to allocate for the partition you are about to create.
- Suppose the Unpartitioned space is 500000MB total, I will create partition and choose 240000MB, So if it shows C: Partition followed by the size of 240000MB. This indicates the first partition has been created.
- We still have an unpartitioned space of 260000MB.
- Next highlight the unpartitioned space and then press C again to create another partition. You will see the total space available for the new partition. Just choose all the space left over, in our case 260000MB.
- C: partitioned - this is where you will install Windows XP and your data and programs.
- D:/F:/E:/ partitioned - this is where you save all your personal files.
Step 4 - FORMATTING
- When your'e finish creating a partitioned highlight & select Partition 1 "C: Drive" with the arrow keys and press Enter.
- Another setup will appear, Now you have to choose either of FAT16, FAT 32 and NTFS
- Choose NTFS <quick>
format this partition using the NTFS file system <Quick>
- Windows XP should start to copy files just wait and then windows Automatically restart your PC.
- NOTE: DON'T PRESS ANY KEY WHEN YOU SEE ON SCREEN "PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD",. JUST LEAVE IT FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND ALLOW XP TO BOOT ITSELF.
Step 5 - CONFIGURATION

Configuration is done just wait until it reboot itself.
- Windows will reboot again automatically and again:
NOTE: DON'T PRESS ANY KEY WHEN YOU SEE ON SCREEN "PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD",. JUST LEAVE IT FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND ALLOW XP TO BOOT ITSELF.
Step 6 - GUI SETUP WIZARD
- Now windows will advise you to change screen resolution just agree on it.
- A Welcome screen should be appear just hit next to continue.
- Now if you are connected on the internet choose YES or If you haven't connected to the internet then choose NO and activate later. I recommend NO. Hit next to continue...
- And then in the next page windows will ask you "who will use this computer?"Enter your name at the first box and leave all below blank.
- Hit next and then You will get a Thank You Screen to confirm setup is complete. Click finish
Before to celebrate you have to install all your drivers first, In order to do this
